Memorial portraits can often make the loss of a pet easier to bear. Saying goodbye to a pet is incredibly hard. While moving through grief, it can help to keep your pet’s presence felt in your home.

This is my own portrait of River, my beloved constant companion of 12 years who passed away July 2025. I paint now in her honour.


Whether they have passed on many years ago or just recently, (and even if they’re still with us!) I always consider it a privilege to make a portrait of your beloved furry family member. I will do my best to portray your connection with them and honour your love for them with sensitivity.

I will strive to honour their memory the best way I know how, capturing their likeness and spirit using archival materials and methods.

  • Currently I am offering animal portraits using acrylic paint on canvas, paper, or board. Sizes range from 5×7”, 6×8”, 8×10”, 11×14”, 16×20”, 18×24” …and larger.

    I am also interested in other types of painting commissions, such as landscapes, gardens, house portraits, window views, florals, nursery art, etc. Just make sure you have the rights to reproduce your main reference photos.

    Often I can alter the background or combine a few references together for a unique bespoke result.

  • Go ahead and send me an email with the reference image(s) you have in mind, and we can set up a (free) Zoom call to discuss your pet and your ideas and timeline. I like to understand more about their personalities; this makes the work so much more meaningful to me.

  • Every brush stroke I make with my own hands is made with love and my full undivided attention, as though I were spending time with your pet in person. I would never use AI in my work for any reason whatsoever, on principle. All my work is hand made with high levels of care and empathy.

  • You can reach us anytime via our contact page or email. We aim to respond quickly—usually within one business day.

  • My deposits are $150 to secure your place and help me out with any materials I may need up front. From there I charge $4 per square inch. I can work smaller than 5×7” but as it still takes considerable time, 5×7” is my minimum charge.

    $150 Deposit + ($4 ( 5”x 7” )) = $290
    Shipping is extra, usually about $25 with tracking within Canada for a 5×7” piece.
    Prices may be adjusted to reflect increased levels of complexity and detail in the painting beyond the usual, or for tight turnaround times.

    50% of the remainder is due at the time I start painting, and the rest when it ships or is picked up.

  • I am warm, empathetic, open, honest, and straightforward. I usually appreciate lengthier (but firm) timelines, so advance notice is greatly appreciated.
