Magic Carpet - Giclée Archival Print on Paper

Sale Price:$75.00 Original Price:$95.00
sale

Broad-leaved Stonecrop, Sedum spathulifolium

2021 Original Artwork by Jen Burgess,

Started in the field, I took my easel and a blank canvas down to Devonian Park in Metchsosin , and chose only Payne’s Grey, Zinc white and Titanium white to capture the form and values of this lovely low growing yet easily-overlooked succulent. Then back in the studio I glazed it with many layers of transparent paint to build it up into full colour. This piece started the series a year ahead of its time; the idea incubated for a full year before I began the rest of this series. And now, I can’t seem to stop! What started as a just-for-fun plein air session has become this whole collection.

What is an Artist Proof?

It’s helpful for an artist to do a test run with their chosen printing service, and get one or two prints on different surfaces, simply to decide if they want to follow through with a larger order. These proofs are GORGEOUS. The print quality is exceptional and lovely and I approve of it wholeheartedly. However, they were printed at a very slightly different size than I asked for, and further to that, for prints on canvas with canvas texture, I decided that printing onto canvas better suited this project. Ultimately, I am very happy with these however, I have elected to discontinue this size and surface, and so ONLY 2 will EVER be made. Rather than keeping them, I am making them available to you—consider them collector’s editions! One each on hot pressed and on cold pressed paper. When they’re gone, they’re gone!
