California Banana Slug - Original Drawing

Sale Price:$150.00 Original Price:$175.00
sale

Ever-present in the redwood forests of coastal California, the California Banana Slug is just the same colour as a fallen madrone (Arbutus) leaf. They are an integral part of the forest ecosystem, decomposing leaf litter into nutrient-rich soil. I drew this beauty with Prismacolor coloured pencils on translucent drafting film in 2015, while I was living in Santa Cruz, visiting the redwoods each day on walks with my dog. The slimy reflective highlights are painted in white gouache. I have a few prints available of this piece also, but this baby is the original.

It is 5x7”, hinge-mounted behind a white 8x10” mat. It is ready to pop into any 8x10 standard sized frame. Ships unframed in a protective plastic sleeve. Shipping included.

Please hang behind glass and out of direct sunlight!
